John C. Gottlieb
John C. Gottlieb is Of Counsel to the firm, and was previously an equity partner from 2005-2014. He received his B.A. from Hope College, in Holland, Michigan (1976), his J.D. from Washington University School of Law in St. Louis, Missouri (1979), and his MBA from the University of Chicago in Chicago, Illinois (1985). He is licensed to practice in Illinois, Massachusetts, and Kansas.
Mr. Gottlieb has been in private practice since 1979, including trial practice in Boston, Massachusetts, several years in the Chicago commercial real estate development business, and as an Associate with the Oak Brook office of Richter & Jaros, handling litigation, contract, real estate and bankruptcy matters in state and federal courts. He became General Counsel to ServiceMaster Restoration, in July, 2014 where he now devotes the majority of his time.
Mr. Gottlieb concentrates his practice in commercial litigation, business transactions, secured lending (with emphasis on U.C.C. priorities, private sales, and capital lease restructuring matters), and real estate matters with an emphasis on contractors and construction law. He has represented specialty manufacturers, leasing companies, and real estate developers, and has deep experience in creditor-side bankruptcy work.
